Bluefin – Gallery

Bluefin is a Swan 46 Mk I CB.

Bluefin was built in 1984 for the Murray family who lived in Florida and named her ‘Quintessence’.  Between 1987 and 1996 her second owner kept her in Miami before the third owners, Chris and Holiday Johnson, relocated her to Sausalito in California.  They completed a major refit for blue-water cruising and re-named her ‘Bluefin’.  She then completed two south Pacific Ocean full circle circuits, her second triumphant return in 2005 being captured for posterity on YouTube (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5Pmppiw8zTg).  In 2009 she was bought by her fourth owners, a Danish couple who then sailed her to back to the Baltic.  They cruised their home-waters, Sweden, Norway, Scotland, the Hebrides and Finland; including one trip back to Nautor in Pietarsaari.

She is one of the very first centre board versions and has benefitted from many upgrades over the years.  She is a blue-water cruising ship of immense pedigree; a true spaceship for planet earth.  Her current owners are Mr and Mrs Schnurr of Bristol in England; a couple who completed their first circumnavigation from 1996-2000 aboard a Van de Stadt steel cutter and who now keep Bluefin in the Mediterranean.
